about us
Sallagoity Heating and Air is owned and operated by Barry Sallagoity. He is a native Sacramento resident with 20+ years of experience in the Heating and Air Conditioning field. He is also a member of our US Army with over 15 years of service as a soldier.

When not working or away with the Military Barry likes to spend time with his family. Barry, his wife, Amy, and their 4 kids enjoy traveling and spending time together. Barry's oldest chose to follow in his dad's shoes and joined the Navy. He is now located in Washington. The younger 3 still are at home with Barry and Amy.
Frequently asked questions
-
What are the most efficient thermostat settings? The most efficient temperatures according to the electric company is 78* or higher in the summer and 68* or lower in the winter. It is also recommended to lower/raise it when no one is home or on vacation. Many newer thermostats can connect to Wi-Fi and an app on your phone so you are able to control the thermostat if need be.
-
What brand do you typically use when installing systems?I use Rheem for Conventional Heating and Air. For Mini-split systems I use Gree or Bosch.
-
How often should I have my system maintenced?I recommend at least twice a year, Spring and Fall. However you can do it quarterly.
-
Do you guarantee/ warranty your work?I offer a manufacturer warranty and a labor warranty. Manufacturer covers all parts on the system. My labor warranty is 1-2 years depending on the work done.
-
Do you provide a free estimate?Yes we offer free estimates
-
I have rodents in my attic, will they harm my system?Rodents will typically create holes in the duct-work in an attic and then make their way to a water source which is the coil. Or chew through a low voltage wire. I have even seen chew hoes in the PVC for the condensate which creates water damage.
-
What would determine a repair vs a replacement of my system? The main reason would be age. The older the system the more limited the parts become to replace the system. The limited availability would contribute to the cost of the part increasing. Another reason would be if it has a leak in the heat exchanger or in the coolant lines which cannot be fixed due to location or size.
-
What is the difference between central AC and a ductless system?Central heating and air has ducts, gas lines, and carbon dioxide flues in one location and it takes care of a large space typically the whole dwelling. A ductless system has heads that are installed on walls and work for a specific area. Those heads are all connected to one outdoor unit. ductless systems have a higher SEER rating which naturally uses less overall power.
-
How often should I change my filter? This typically depends on the filter purchased. On the filter itself it will state whether it is 30, 60, or 90 days.
-
How can I improve the efficiency of my system?Ways to help your system run more efficiently is to make sure to regularly change your filter so they do not get to dirty, make sure the evaporator and condensing coils are clean and free of debris, make sure your refrigerant is up to factory specifications, and making sure you tonnage of they unit is sufficient for the square footage of your dwelling.
-
What is included in a service call vs a seasonal maintenance?A Service call is usually to diagnose a problem with the system and initiated by a customer call. Seasonal maintenance includes changing out the filter, cleaning the condensing coil, inspect all parts and components, and make sure the refrigerant is charged to factory specifications.
-
What does SEER stand for?SEER is an acronym for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio or "Rating". A SEER rating is s measure of how energy efficient an air conditioning system is. The higher the SEER rating the more efficient the system is. A SEER rating is calculated by dividing the cooling output of the system during a typical cooling season by the power input. The cooling output is measured in British Thermal Units (BTUs), and the power input is measured in watts.
